About me
Having worked in the publishing and advertising industry almost from day one of my professional career I reached a crossroads - carry on doing more of the same, or take a risk and develop further the aspect I enjoyed the most - creative design.
I made a brave decision - study for a degree in graphic design so in my thirties I graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney (Australia).
II returned to the UK on a path that has been fulfilling, enjoyable and always interesting.
The pleasure for me is working with the client, organisation or team; drawing out the key elements; refining the brief through dialogue or research and then finding the most appropriate dynamic way to present the message, data, information or content to meet the brief.
For me, most satisfying is designing something from nothing, or the faintest of ideas, and managing the creative process from start to finish.
However, it isn’t always this way so I am also capable of picking up the design process from whatever the starting point and running with it - it is the design process I love.
I have been an in-house designer for large corporate companies in London and the South East but have also had the benefit of some freelance work with its own individual set of skills.
But it’s not all about work! I love being outside - I enjoy kayaking both in the UK and abroad. I have travelled extensively and enjoy soaking up the tourist sites but also gaining an insight about how other people live. I try to keep healthy and fit, enjoy cooking and bake a mean cake!
